Obama and Sebelius Sittin’ in a Tree…

First comes sex without marriages
Then come empty baby carriages

The teasing little rhyming ditty familiar to children for generations, of which the above is a parody, bespeaks that even children know something very fundamental about the natural and right order of things – that first comes love, then marriage, then by some miracle they understand not — whoola! — a baby. But not in Obamaland.

In Obamaland, babies are not a good thing. Babies are a sexually transmitted disease which must be prevented, medicated against. They are such a huge public health risk that we have to make sure everyone gets inoculated against them, and for free! But, why?

Babies Threaten our Daughters’ Opportunities

In a statement on this year’s anniversary of Roe v. Wade President Obama placed the protection of “a woman’s health and reproductive freedom” – by which he means “abortion” (a word he never once mentioned in his statement) – in this context:  “we must also continue our efforts to ensure that our daughters have the same rights, freedoms, and opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.” Whoa! So that is what babies threaten, hey?  Our daughters’ rights, freedoms, and opportunities. Those are some very insidious and dangerous babies! And those would be rights, freedoms, and opportunities that our sons already have. How unfair!

So let’s think this through: what right, freedom, or opportunity do our sons have that our daughters don’t? Well, there’s voting. Oh, wait; women have the vote. There’s education. Oh, wait; women can go to law school and medical school and be trained as scientists and business leaders… etc. and they have the same property rights as men. So it can’t be those things.

Oh, I get it. Really? Is that what he meant?

Yep. Looks like that is it.

The only right, freedom, and opportunity that men have that woman do not without birth control is the right, freedom, and opportunity to have sex any time they want with anyone they want and not get pregnant.

Psst… It’s Cheaper, Too

White House Chief of Staff Jack Lew missed a great chance on “Fox News Sunday” this week when he defended the administration’s position on the HHS contraceptive mandate. “The president has the authority under the Affordable Care Act to have these kinds of rules take effect,” Lew said.

Boring!

Instead of talking about the president’s “authority” to force a private company to provide a product free of charge, Lew should have touted the president’s grand vision of our daughters’ right, freedom, and opportunity to have sex any time they want with anyone they want and not get pregnant – there’s a vision we can all rally ‘round!

In addition, Lew argued that providing contraception is cost effective! It just gets better and better. It isn’t just free sex; it’s free sex that saves money. “If you were looking at the actuarial projection, the cost of the plan, it costs more to provide a plan without than it does with [birth control].”  Oh, yeah, that’s right. You can pay for a lot of pills, IUDs, condoms, diaphragms, and spermicide for what the prenatal care, labor and delivery of a single baby costs.

Isn’t it wonderful to be ruled by dispassionate bureaucrats who follow the inexorable, scientific logic of “actuarial tables” in the formulation of public policy? We just won’t mention right now that the same actuarial tables that demonstrate birth control costs less than babies will also demonstrate that assisted suicide is cheaper than many kinds of medical care. Of course, when we get around to that it will be sold to us as a right, freedom, and opportunity to control our own destiny, to die on our own terms. And then it is only a matter of time before those actuarial tables show that costs can be more effectively contained if we don’t leave it up to people to choose to have babies, or to choose to live with disability or the debility of age.

The goddess of sex seduces with the language of rights, freedom, and opportunity – but her demands for human sacrifice are not far behind and she will not long be satisfied with the very small and young.

Then we save more by your last breath
