Poem: “Veiled Love”

Veiled Love

Love mysteriously veiled draws the lover into his mystery.
In search of beauty hidden, she pursues him.

Yet he nurtures romance, revealing only wisps of golden hair
Blowing seductively, luring her with his scent.

Fleeting romance, blushing faces, love unknown
Remains mysterious, as the bud unfolds.

Pricking her finger she recoils…
Lover. Lover? Pinprick drops stain her diaphanous garment.

Fearful, lacking understanding, she recoils
Even as the veil whips aside momentarily.

In a brief glimpse his eyes meet hers.
Eternity eclipses time, she swoons, healed.

Resolve strengthened, she longs for his visage,
Studying the shadows, beneath his flowing garb.

She discerns a mouth speaking truth,
Eyes pierce her soul revealing herself, in his light.

Brilliant light, requiring a lowering of her lids.
Lashes veil eyes burning from the lover’s Beauty.

She reaches, blindly, caressing his covered cheek,
Thankful for the silk between them.

He withdraws into the shadows, drawing her forward.
Knowledge increases mystery. Understanding consoles.

Wisdom, behind the veil, impels love
Kindling desire, as in young lovers.

Mystery, upon mystery, love deepens
Until the lovers gaze upon each other

Face-to-face
In eternity.
